This paper examines the kinds of government institutions U.S. federal policy-makers will need to develop and implement policy for the revolution in robotics. (The institutions that will be established after the robot revolution to govern humanity will be discussed in a subsequent paper.)<\/p>\n<p>Broadly, the American people will want their government to support research in robotics, regulate robotics, manage robotic crises (such as dangerous autonomous behavior), and help society adapt to the broader changes wrought by robotics.
